We started collecting Lafiore glassware some years ago following a chance visit to their glassworks whilst on holiday in Majorca. We were immediately impressed with the quality, beautiful shapes and colours. The fact that each piece was handmade and therefore individual added to our enthusiasm.
As our collection grew the overall effect was quite stunning and everyone who viewed the collection commented on how beautiful and different the items were - and then asked if they could buy some of the items from our personal collection! It was the comment on how different they were which eventually prompted us to look at the UK market to compare our Lafiore products to similar designs. We are pleased to announce that the internationally recognized and award winning Glass Artist Mihai Topescu has agreed to The Thorncroft Collection representing him in the UK. From the renaissance of the Shell Bowl and Arch Bowl shapes to the wonderful creativity of the Nest and Snail designs his work takes glass art to a new level. His use of super glass imposition techniques, forming several layers of coloured glass, are used to spectacular effect in designs such as ‘Fantasia’ or ‘After The Storm’. If you then add the wonderful new designs such as the ‘Tropical’ range you will see that the depth and breadth of his work is amazing and constantly growing. Mihai’s glass art creations are an exuberant expression of life and to ensure authenticity Mihai hand engraves his signature on all of his art.
